Last Wednesday, the Senate Appropriations Committee agreed to a $4.6 billion border supplemental spending bill with bipartisan support.
The bill provides $2.9 billion for HHS to care for and resettle the unaccompanied minors who are apprehended crossing the border illegally. It also provides the Department of Homeland Security with $1.3 billion to provide food, shelter, and medical care for illegal border crossers. The bill also provides funding for more immigration judges and for the Department of Defense, which has assisted in the response to the crisis. The bill provides some funding for Alternatives to Detention (ATD), but it does not include funding for detention beds or additional border security,Illegal border crossers will be released after apprehension by Border Patrol. Without the threat of detention, there is nothing to deter the near record-level of illegal border crossings. Thanks, you cucks.
